On the beach of San Sebastián

From the 11th to the 14th of May, Marianne Bijl, Jan-Willem Lankman, and Marta Perxés Perich attended the 2025 Gold Conference in San Sebastián. In addition to enjoying the beautiful city with its lovely beaches and even better food, they presented posters, and Jan-Willem and Marta also gave oral presentations.

It was fascinating to learn about the wide variety of nanoparticle shapes that can be made with gold – from simple spheres to chiral nanoparticles, and even more funky structures like “nanohotdogs” –. These gold nanoparticles are used in a range of applications, from biomedicine to photonics, and what brought them there, catalysis.
